This is a a photo I recently received of the adult choir at Little Mt. Zion Holy Church in White Plains, NY. This church was started by Pennie Johnson Higgs, a sister of my grandfather, George Johnson. She is the older lady to the right in this photo with the white hat and scarf. My maternal grandmother's sister Mary, also attended this church. She is the tall woman on the back row to the left. Aunt Pennie died in December 1966.

What a great photo!
Hi again Druscilla,
The woman in the photo next to Grandma Pennie is Evangelist Ida Higgs, and Evangelist Katie Higgs Haskins (Aunt Katie) is again next to your Aunt Mary. In the front row far left is my maternal grandmohter and church pianist Sis. Anna Mary Thomas-Pope. Also in the the front row is The Rev. Dr. Theopholus Sobers, pastor.
This is an awesome picture. I attended the original church as a young child and was a junior usher and sang in the junior choir. I knew all of the people in this photo. Many of the sisters in this photo played an important part in my spiritual growth as a child and adult. As a young adult I attended the newly built church until moving to attend college in Los Angeles California. I will cherish this photo.

This is an awsome photo and I attended the original church as a child. I sang in the junior choir and was a junior usher. I knew all of the people in this photo personally. I also attended the newly built church. I will cherish the memory of this photo. I had know idea that Mother Penny Higgs founded the church.
I knew the people in this photo, I attended this church as a child. Nice memory too.
I am not a family member but I knew all of these people as a child and young adult. I attended the old church and the new church. This is a memorable photo.
I am not a family member but I knew all of these people from the original church and the new church.
TWhile looking up Little Mt Zion Holy Church I came accros your blogg and to my surprise I recognized your relatives in the Sacred Sunday photos photos. I have some photos that were taken of Evangelist Ida Higgs, Evangelist Lou Ethel Higgs. I also remember Mary Johnson. Although I am not a family member your family always treated me as a member. I am happy that I can pray for the heirs of your family as they did for me when I was a child.
